How do I get an insurance quote?

Where can I find a phone number to turn in a claim?

Can I pay my bill online?

More and more insurance companies now let you pay either online or by phone with your credit or debit card. Check with your insurance company or ask your agent what options are available on your policy.

Why do the quote requests now ask for a Social Security number?

Many insurance companies now base their rates on what is called "Financial Responsibility". In English, that means that the company runs a basic credit score on each person who requests a quote and bases the final rate on the results.

Here is what they say:

The Arizona and Virginia insurance departments also have reaffirmed these findings through comprehensive studies of their own on the issue. After decades of use, insurance companies have found that using credit information can help them write more business and allow consumers to pay less."

Insurance underwriting has completely changed in the last year. Whereas companies used to deny coverage if you had a ticket or two, now if you have good credit you can, not only get coverage, but get better rates than you could before. On the other hand, if you happen to have poor credit, it also means that the company we would have quoted you first may end up giving you very high rates or decline to offer coverage at all.
